Our memory tincture contains sage, lemon balm and rosemary. All three herbs are used in herbal medicine to support the memory and improve concentration. This has been demonstrated in recent scientific trials. The herbs seem to work both by supporting the nervous system and also strengthening circulation of blood to the brain.  Sage has often been thought of (in many different cultures) as a wonderful tonic, hence the name. All three herbs also help support the digestive system, whilst lemon balm is gently calming. This may be relevant as sometimes we can struggle to recall information when we feel overwhelmed and stressed.

If you need further support or advice, or feel you would benefit from an individually blended herbal tincture we offer consultations, either in person or online. Please visit  www.the-herbal-clinic.co.uk  for more details

Our ingredients and why we chose them:

  • Salvia officinalis (Sage)* - Sage is used medicinally to strengthen a weakened or exhausted nervous system. It also supports the digestive system and is renowned as a strengthening tonic. Recent scientific trials have shown that it helps with memory and concentration. Sage contains plant oestrogens so is best avoided by people taking oestrogen blocking medication.
  • Rosmarinus officinalis (Rosemary)* - Rosemary is used in herbal medicine as a strengthening tonic to the nervous system and to promote circulation of the blood to the extremities and to the brain. It has been shown to enhance memory. It also supports the digestive system.
  • Melissa officinalis (Lemon Balm)* - Lemon balm is a gentle herb that calms the nervous system and promotes circulation. It is often prescribed for headaches and tension especially where there is digestive involvement. It calms the digestive system and is known to be helpful when an exhausted nervous system is associated with mild depression. Has been shown to improve memory function.
  • Ethanol - herbal tinctures contains ethanol. It is used as a highly effective means to extract the medicinal chemicals from the fresh plants and also  preserves the remedy for several years. Adding the tincture to hot water and leaving for a few minutes helps a lot of the alcohol to evaporate.
